Tablet Presentation

Each film coated tablet contains:
Carvedilol IP 3.125 mg

Carvedilol is an alpha-beta 1 blocker. It is used to treat heart failure, left ventricular dysfunction and dysfunction.It effects the blood flow through arteries and veins.

Indications

  • Atrial fibrillation
  • Hypertension
  • Ventricular dysfunction

Mechanism of Action

Carvedilol inhibits the beta adrenoreceptors and controls the blood pressure and relaxes the smooth muscles leads to decrease in peripheral blood resistance.It acts as antioxidant and prevents the oxidation of low- density lipoprotein.

Pharmacokinetics

Absorption- It absorbs orally
Protein Binding- It is about 98% bound to plasma proteins i.e. mainly to albumin.
Metabolism- It undergoes glucuronidation.
Excretion- It is excreted via feces.

  • Dizziness
  • Diarrhoea
  • Hyperglycaemia
  • Weakness
  • Tiredness

Contraindication

  • Contraindicated in heart failure
  • Contraindicated in hypersensitivity reaction

Precaution

Stop using it if may cause light-headedness
